First They Came for the Drinks Cart, and You Did Not Speak Out, Because You Were Not a Drinks Cart

This is freakin hilarious. Haven't figured out their angle yet, but worth a chuckle. Gotta read it all.

Short public critiques

Heh. This is cool. An editor of an unnamed publisher/publication is offering to critique short pieces of work online. He mentions the amount of CRAP he reads as submissions at work. I've heard the same complaints from other sources as well. You think if there's so much crap out there, all the good writers I know (you know who you are) have a decent chance of getting published. Just finish the damn story already!!

I need another word for Woohoo

Found a link to the program schedule for Cascadia Con. I'm on or moderating six panels, including a Kaffeeklatsch. A friend did some research, and discovered that this is basically an informal hang-out session to have a chance to meet some artists/writers/favourite people.
I shall be all alone with my kaffee. *grin*

I'll also be doing a reading from the ORU Anthology (promote promote!) and panels include Getting the Most out of a Writer's Group, and Dr. Seuss: Gateway to SF?

I have a bazillion things to do before I go, including getting the kids ready for school and make sure the business can run for a week without me. (debatable.)

You can't judge a book by its cover.

Well, it's finally done.
The ORU Anthology will be launched on September 2 at Cascadia Con in Seattle. I'm happy for the authors and all the work they put into their stories.
This is the cover.

And this was mine that they rejected.

Over 99 Balloons Saved

This is what an eight year old reads when you drive by McDonald's really fast.

Costco/Walmart/Guy down the street

Fascinating discussion here about book sales figures, specifically reflecting sales in big box discount stores like Costco and Walmart. We'll have to get Lynda to do a signing in Costco around Christmas time. :-)
